Chinese authorities release government approved doctored version of famous Tiananmen Square photo.

On the twentieth anniversary of the brutal Chinese government suppresion of anti-communist protests in 1989, the Chinese government has released an offically approved photo of that largely taboo event. However, the picture has been doctored to make it appear that the famous anonymous man standing in front of a row of Chinese tanks is actually presenting the tanks with flowers. The picture will be the only one available in China; while the authorities have defended the publication and doctoring of the photograph. A top Chinese official stated "This is clearly the intention that the man had, so we just made it a little clearer."

The original undoctored photo will remain inaccesible in China.
