Thabo Mbeki launches "Wait and See Foundation."

On Sunday, former South African president Thabo Mbeki launched his "Wait and See Foundation", which seeks to promote the concept of waiting and seeing what happens in various hotspots around the world. To celebrate the birth of this important new foundation, Newsifact is giving away 100 Thabo Mbeki "Wait and See" T-Shirts. Just answer this question: Where would you most like to prescribe Thabo Mbeki's "Wait and See" ideas? We'll announce the winners next week.

  1. Hi Thabo,

It's your old buddy Pat, who guided you so unerringly during your Zimbabwean mediation, and suggested a title for your book. How to Mediate with a Madman.
Would you like to read my book Hero of the Struggle?
If so please contact me soonest.

  2. Hi Pat,

I would love to read your novel Hero of the Struggle, as I understand I am favorably featured in the book, I will post you an email address where you can send the novel

  3. Dear Botha Bemik,

Are you sure you are not the ex-president, your name sounds awfully familiar, if so you can come out of hiding because Prez JZ has forgiven you. You cannot "wait and see" forever Botha Bemik, why don't you contact Patricia in regard to forming an African Democratic Alliance, that can counter the grasping carpetbaggers JZ has surrounded himself with.

  4. Hi Thabo,
This is actually a lovely foundation, nobody argues with me like on the Friends of JZ, because I am the only one who contributes here. I think I will stick to this foundation, and have long meaningful discussions with myself, until the men in white coats take me away.

  5. The Wait and See Foundation is rapidly becoming the top “think tank” of South African politics, every post on this site is crammed with prescient political wisdom, and the literary eloquence of the writers is unmatched in South Africa. Keep it up friends of Wait and See, history will one day vindicate us, you just wait and see.

  6. In her latest newsletter Helen Zille quoted from the George Orwell novel 1984, she mentioned the term double-speak, then Helen wrote this to prove her point. It is double-speak to talk of corruption when Jacob Zuma knows how many “quashed” charges hang over his head. May I enlighten Helen on the use of double-speak, especially in relation to ‘quashed’ charges, because Helen seems to imagine that a ‘quashed’ charge is the same as a ‘squashed’ charge. The difference is that a ‘quashed’ charge cannot hang over your head, because unlike a ‘squashed’ charge a ‘quashed’ charge can never be raised again, this is because it will ruin my entire novel if it was.

  7. Dear Thabo,

Can you tell me precisely how long is “Wait and See.”
Is it for instance years, or would it perhaps be decades, or even for that matter millenniums?
At the end of the waiting period, what can we expect to “see,” presuming we are still alive by that time.

  8. Dear Thabo,

I understand that this site has gained world attention, no doubt because of the prescience of my posts, you should be jolly thankful that I am prepared to help you like this. I'm almost up to the photo of a young Steve Hofmeyr, and am working my way down to the pic of the anteater playing with himself, you better hope I don't run out of steam.

  10. Thabo,

It’s me man, Pat Stevens, who did you think it would be? The same bloke who took you through the Zimbabwe mediation, now that things are beginning to come right in Zimbabwe, we both deserve some credit before JZ climbs in and hogs the limelight. Please email me a short admission that without the guidance of Will Powers, you never would have been able to achieve a Zimbabwean unity government, in exchange I am prepared to write a forward for your book.

  11. Aah, thank you. I'm not sure about your suggestions or how to respond. Perhaps for a while I will just wait and see what happens next; perhaps the matter will sort itself out.

  12. Dear Thabo,
My congratulations on securing the release of the four South African peacekeepers in Darfur, I must admit that Will Powers had nothing to do with that, but I still insist he was your guiding light in the Zimbabwe mediation process. The University of KZN have offered Will Powers a PhD in Ethnology for his work on the British Tribes of Africa, and I remain surprised that the cartoonists have not picked up on the four tribes, because not only is it really funny but also politically prescient. The Fall and Rise of the e’Sweaty was posted on Amazon Shorts on May 25th 2007, and people may find it curious that this piece exactly foretold the Zimbabwe mediation process, I think a short letter of thanks would be the mannerly thing to do. Not only for myself Thabo, but also for Amazon Books, who by posting my Short contributed immensely to world peace.

  13. Thabo,
We appear to be running out of room on the page, maybe you could take out the bit on the top, where you inform everyone you are starting a foundation. Since I came on the site the whole world knows it, you should be truly grateful for that Thabo, I’m still waiting for your letter of thanks.

Can you please get hold of Robert Mugabe and inform him, if he does not announce his retirement he will be red carded from the World Cup, if he does announce his retirement he will be treated as the guest of honour.

  16. Thabo,
There's a strong rumour going around that Gordon Brown is going to join your foundation, so I'm trying to keep my end up by posting insightful pieces, it's hard work battling along single handedly. The page just seems to be getting longer and longer, my original ambition was to get down to the anteater playing with himself, then I thought the page would be finished. But I've passed the anteater and the page keeps lengthening, I'll just have to keep advancing because somebody has to keep your foundation going, especially if Gordon Brown is going to join us.

There’s a rumour going around that your Wait and See Foundation is going to win the Nobel Peace Prize, which I think the foundation jolly well deserves Thabo, ask yourself if you have ever seen any arguing or fighting going on in this foundation?

  19. Dear Thabo,
My apologies for not contributing to your foundation for some time, but I have been busy with the final corrections for the PDF of Hero of the Struggle, I have also been in communication with your old friend Doctor Pahad. In case he comes to the party I thought it best to post another contribution, so here it is Thabo, my best wishes for your future although I’m not really sure what that will be. We will just have to wait and see?

  20. Dear Thabo,
I have not forgotten you, although so many have, and many more wish they could. My poetry is beginning to attract international attention, so I thought it would be nice to post one of my poems on your site, I know you love poetry so here it is.

Don't you think you are taking the sulky silence bit to the extreme, say something man, even if it's "up yours JZ."

  22. Thabo,

The nation needs an answer from you pronto, did you fire Jacob Zuma because of that false newspaper headline, we've "waited" long enough now we want to "see." If you don't respond Thabo, Hollywood is going to make a film of your life, and they will call it The African Mummy.

  23. Dear Thabo,
Although the commies have shut down the Friends of JZ site, I noticed that the Friends of Democracy are still operating, what a bunch of hypocrites they are. The Friends of Democracy is supposed to be a site that supports Thabo Mbeki, yet how many of them contribute to your Wait and See Foundation, you don’t have to wait to see who your true friends are Thabo.

  24. Dear Thabo,
Now that the time has arrived for the Wait and See Foundation to explode on the international scene, the ANC have obviously panicked and are attempting to muzzle the SABC, but with me on board you have all the publicity outlets you need Thabo. I have my own website and my articles are featured internationally, and as you know I have also published two books, so it would be fantastic publicity for you to be photographed holding one of my novels. If you haven’t yet bought a copy of Hero of the Struggle, go to my website and print out a copy of the cover, nobody would notice if you were photographed holding that. Of course you would have to make a few remarks about the book, just quote something from the back cover blurb and everyone will think you have read the book, which will be great publicity because you will then be lauded as an informed and knowledgeable South African.

  25. Hi Thabo,

I deeply admire your tenacity, despite all aridity you have kept the foundation going, the Friends of JZ long ago closed down but I can still post on the Wait and See Foundation.

  26. Thabo,
I understand you quoted extensively from my works at a recent speech at Stellenbosch University, this is a good sign Thabo, the Wait and See period is over and the bear awakes from hibernation. It’s time to tear a few people apart, you can start with the commies and their liberal press backers, they were the ones who forced your recall.

  27. Thabo - There's a new book out called Eight Days in September: The Removal of Thabo Mbeki. Please let it be known that this book is a load of cods wallop, and refer interested parties to your Wait and See Foundation, or my book titled Hero of the Struggle.

  29. Hi Thabo,
Zimbabwe elections didn’t quite work out the way I wrote them, WELSHMAN! SIMBA! MAC e’BOERE! What happened to them, looks like Mac Morgan tried to go on his own, his best bet now is to consolidate the opposition.

“Where are they? What happened?” Laird Robert raged, as it became apparent Mac Morgan would beat him, Then it became apparent where his missing voters were.
“WELSHMAN! SIMBA! MAC e’BOERE! came a great roar from the e’Jock, for a mighty crowd had gathered around Mac Morgan, they were the supporters of three clansman who backed Mac Morgan. The beleaguered Laird Robert Mugabe would now have to fight on four fronts: chief mediator Bulldog Botha, had breeched the centre of power in Zimbabwe. Bulldog Botha returned home to Uppapommy Land to be honored for his magnificent achievement, where he was unceremoniously booted out of power by a gaggle of power mad communists, that story is recounted in Best Friends of JZ. Which points out that following a decade of contraction from 1998 to 2008, Zimbabwe's economy recorded real growth of more than 9% per year in 2010-11, there is no doubt that Thabo Mbeki's mediation in 2009 impacted on growth. While Helen Zille's attempts to stop the mediation were a cynical electioneering ploy, if she'd succeeded it would have been to the detriment of starving Zimbabweans, so I'm entitled to call the South African opposition leader Illez the Witch.

  30. Dear Thabo,

Congratulations on your fine showing at the Seriti Commission into the arms deal, you coasted calmly through and effortlessly shored up your defences, I understand Terry Crawford-Browne will be paying for the Seriti Commission because he started it.

  31. Dear Thabo,

Helen Zille has been attempting to raise the Spy Tapes ghost again, in order to embarrass the ANC during 2016 elections, be not afraid for I've dealt with Zille in a savage letter to the Canadian Examiner.

  32. Dear Thabo,

I was pleased to read that you found the disruptions in parliament 'troubling', and that you advised against using 'administrative instruments' to resolve a political problem, I presume you are calling for the use of the instrument called the sjambok. This is the only way to control Helen Zille and Julius Malema, who are plotting to overthrow the government by force, this is why they have called for 'no police in parliament.'

  35. Were I Jacob Zuma I would wait until Friday 13th to appeal the decision, because the NPA may decide not to recharge, and they should make a statement within the 15 day deadline for appeals. The Seriti Commission found there should be no further investigation, for the amount of time passed has muddied the waters, so Jacob Zuma will not be able to receive a fair trial due to the delays. The NPA may also drop charges on grounds that the case is not winnable, it is impossible to go through the courts and subsequent appeals, before the 20 year Statute of Limitations expires. In fact if you read the charge sheet below, which mentions the period 1995 to 2004, the case should have expired last year.
    SUBCOUNT 1: CORRUPTION
In contravention of section 1(1)(b) read with section 1(2) and 3 of the Corruption Act, No. 94 of 1992. (In respect of the period 25 October 1995 to 26 April 2004)

Could you please inform the ANC that their new policy to expropriate land without compensation, is a deviation from non-racialism, which is the party's founding principle.
